You can't do a review about a car that features a satnav maker's brand in its full name without doing a review of the system.
My first impression of the Renault Scenic's TomTom satnav was one of amusement as it introduced itself with a funny, comedy 'beep-beep' toot to warn me of oncoming speed cameras. The sound, of course, can be changed or turned off, but I've retained it as it has kept me smiling, especially when it inappropriately cuts across a sombre news item.
Aside from keeping me entertained, the system has performed excellently. I particularly like the clear, unambiguous presentation of the road ahead, relayed via the 5.8-inch colour screen, when approaching motorway junctions, while the real-time traffic information that warns of the extent of oncoming jams and the likely delay has been useful.
The provision of full postcode entry for destinations is always welcome, too, and using it enables you to home in on the BusinessCar office, a location that regularly defeats the satnavs for our test-car delivery drivers.
