A mild facelift along with trim and specification revisions are the main differentiators between the new and old versions of the Mercedes E-class Cabriolet.
Mercedes' executive model is handsome, which will appeal to privileged user choosers, and has a classy status. It's also refined for a convertible and comfortable too, but BMW and Audi soft-tops are better to drive.
You are, though, limited to AMG Sport and SE trims with the latest Mercedes, which makes things much easier.
The 204hp E250 CDI AMG Sport version offers 57.7mpg and 130g/km of CO2, but it doesn't come cheap at £44,045 and 90.0ppm. Rivals, admittedly slightly smaller, are cheaper: the Audi A5 Cabriolet 3.0 TDI 204 S-line comes in at £40,330 and 85.2ppm, while an albeit slightly less powerful BMW 420d Convertible 184 Business Media auto costs £40,535 and 81.1ppm.
