Pre-Budget to sound ECO death knell?

Company directors and fleet managers need look no further than for all the company car relevant news from the Chancellor's Pre-Budget statement set for 6 December.

Although details of the Chancellor's plans are always a closely guarded secret, it is widely expected to include details of HM Revenue and Customs' review into Employee Car Ownership schemes.

The Government sees cash-for-car ECO schemes as a loophole for company car drivers to run higher-polluting cars without paying regular company car tax based on CO2 emissions.

However, fleet management and finance firms offering the schemes claim this is not the case. will have all developments from the Pre-Budget statement on the afternoon of 6 December.
