Record gap between diesel and unleaded

The difference between the price of diesel and unleaded has hit a record high of 5.5pence per litre in October thanks to unleaded dropping to its lowest price for 16 months.
A litre of unleaded now costs on average 86.6p, down 3.7p in the last month alone, while diesel dropped 2.9p to 92.1, according to the AA Motoring Trust's latest fuel price report.
The supermarket average for unleaded is 84.6p, with diesel at 90.2p. Northern Ireland and Wales lead the way for the most expensive fuel, with the north-west of England the cheapest.
