Vauxhall boosts VXR power

Date: 14 September 2006

High-performance division has seen fit to turn up the wick on two of Vauxhall's fastest VXR products.

Until now, the Vectra VXR had to make do with just 255PS - not anymore. Now it boasts 280PS and the ability to sprint to 60mph in 6.1secs - and lock-up any police officer foolish enough to find its top speed.

The Vectra's southern hemisphere distant relation, the Monaro, also receives a healthy dose of go. Thanks to a Mad Max-style supercharger, the beefy Aussie can now punch out 500PS, shrug off the 60 sprint in less than five seconds and finally run out of puff at 180mph.
