HiQ expands fleet operation

Fast fit operator HiQ is planning to double its business in fleet over the next three years as a result of increased investment in facilities, service levels and a rebrand.

The company plans to expand the number of centres operating under its label to 250 by adding 100 franchised sites, also over the next three years. At the same time it will develop 250 fleet service partners and add more mobile vans to its fleet service support.

Neil Burrows, HiQ managing director, said: "We are already one of the major players in fleet and we intend to stay in the business. With 500 outlets we will have sufficient footprint in the UK to offer a truly national fleet service."

Fleet customers will also benefit from a dedicated 24/7 call centre, based in Birmingham, specialist account managers and back office support, such as online billing. Fleet marketing activity, such as free tyre checks at major office locations, will also be stepped up.

The expansion of the fleet offering comes as HiQ relaunches itself with a fresh look, extra investment in staff training and 'customer-friendly' service centres. The first opened in Nottingham last week and a further 25 will be opened to the new standards in the next three years.

Burrows admitted: "Customers visiting a fast fit centre have very low expectations. Centres are seen as dirty, unwelcoming and confusing on price."

The new HiQ centres will include clear, menu pricing, expanded reception facilities, broadband access with workstations and free hot and cold drinks. In the medium term, the company is hoping to introduce fixed appointment servicing and a time guarantee.
