Kwik-Fit takes a crack at windscreen repairs

Kwik-Fit Fleet's broad approach to motoring services is being extended to include a vehicle windscreen emergency repair service as the company bids for a "significant" share in an annual market worth around £38 million.
Due to be available via 670 Kwik-Fit outlets by the end of this year the high-tech repair process involve injecting liquid acrylic resin and "curing" it with ultra violet light. Repairs take an average of between 20 and 30 minutes.
Fleets account for about 15% of the workload with each repair costing around £50. Mike Wise, head of Kwik-Fit Fleet said the screen repair arm added to the firm's approach to fast fit services, which helped keep vehicle downtime to an "absolute minimum".
He claimed fleet operators and drivers who used Kwik-Fit benefited from a service which is "significantly quicker than using franchised or independent dealers" and combined invoicing simplified fleet administration processes.
Wise did not rule out further expansion of Kwik-Fit Fleet services when he said: "The launch of our windscreen repair service completes our product portfolio for the moment. It ensures that every facet of SMR work required to keep vehicles moving is now offered."
