?Commercial vehicle training body SaFED is looking to extend its operation by training an assessor who can then monitor their company fleet, instead of training every driver.
Though the assessors wouldn't by law be allowed to offer driver training as they're not qualified, they would be able to deduce which drivers need more training and only send the ones in most need to SaFED for the Government-subsidised course.
Instead of offering subsidised places for every driver, as SaFED has done in the past, the organisation will offer 10 places per company for £50 until the end of March, with the Department for Transport picking up the rest.
