Subaru's new Impreza will go on sale next month priced from £12,495 for the entry level 1.5R hatch.
The starting line-up includes1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 turbo petrol engines. As with all Subarus all cars are four-wheel-drive.
The two naturally aspirated engines will be available in R and RX trims with the 2.5 available in WRX form.
A spokesman for the firm said: "Subaru's aim is to compete more directly in the European market with rivals such as the Honda Civic, VW Golf and Mazda 3 while offering the added safety and traction advantage of all-wheel drive."
