The start point for the best source of fleet information

Arval makes ESP compulsory

Date: 27 August 2008

Leasing giant Arval is leading the campaign for standardising ESP anti-skid control by only offering cars with the tech on its own fleet.

Employees are being provided with cars where the technology comes as standard or as a cost option, but they won't be expected to pay should there be a charge.

"We'll cover the cost; we do the same for rear parking sensors," said an Arval spokesman.

Tracey Young, Arval's fleet manager said: "We believe fleets should be making the technology standard when selecting vehicles."

However, the firm stopped short of saying it would be pushing car makers to make the technology standard on all cars.

Arval is sending out information to all its existing and some potential fleet customers to encourage them to take the same steps and make choosing anti-skid mandatory.

The company is also hosting a road safety event at Rockingham in October where it will stage a demonstration of the technology.
