New Focus finally gets the RS treatment

Ford's second-generation Focus is appearing in high-performance RS form for the first time at the British International Motor Show on 22July.
The new car - which we expect to cost about £25,000 - goes on sale in early 2009 and will feature a 2.5-litre 300PS five-cylinder engine.
Performance figures are yet to be confirmed, but the indication is that 0-62mph will be possible in under six seconds.
Like the rest of the range, the Focus RS will remain front- rather than all-wheel-drive, coping with the high power output thanks to an innovative front suspension system.
The RS will also feature a completely new front and rear bumper, a black rear spoiler and two chrome exhausts. Inside, it will have Recaro sports seats, aluminium pedals and RS logos.
The car appearing at the show will be in a metallic green paint reminiscent of the 1970s Escort RS1600, with exterior details finished in matt black. However, the production car will be available in a range of colours.
