The start point for the best source of fleet information

New fuel card broker targets quick growth

Date: 18 September 2008

New fuel card broker The Fuelcard People is looking for "pretty quick growth" as it enters what is becoming an increasingly volatile sector.

Launched last month, it doesn't operate its own fuel card network, but acts as a broker for five oil company cards across BP, Shell, Texaco and the two Esso cards, as well as the Red and Diesel Direct fuel cards.

"We go in, you tell us about the business and we see what is the best card for your business," said boss Steve Clarke. "We're focussing on service and the total package."

The company guarantees the fuel price fleets will pay at the beginning of each week, no matter where they fill up, and claims that it's "typically a couple of pence below average pump price" thanks to the quantity it purchases. Companies then receive a weekly invoice.

With the recent Arval vs BP spat potentially blowing the fuel car market wide open, Clarke feels it could be a good time to enter the market.
