Low CO2 Audi A4 gets priced up

Date: 15 July 2009

Audi A4e

The 120g/km CO2 version of Audi's upper medium A4 saloon will be available from £23,340 when it goes on sale in October.

The A4 TDIe is also available in SE trim, which is priced at £24,320, and adds kit including larger, 17-inch alloys, multi-function leather steering wheel, three-zone climate control and auto lights and wipers.

Audi's A4e compares closely with its forthcoming 118g/km BMW 316d rival, which is just £10 cheaper at £23,330. The fuel economies of the two cars are also very close, with the BMW just emerging on top, boasting 62.8mpg to the Audi's 61.4mpg.

Stop start technology, an energy regeneration system and dashboard driver efficiency advice all contribute to the A4's low CO2 philosophy.

The A4 is powered by a 2.0-litre 120PS engine which is still capable of getting to 62mph in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 143mph. It will come exclusively in saloon form as the estate wouldn't have crept into the 13% BIK band, and first customers will get their cars in October.
