The start point for the best source of fleet information

RAC goes the extra length

Date: 06 November 2009

RAC has launched a new rescue capability for fleets with long vehicles.

The recovery specialist is to launch a new annual subscription service for fleets with vehicles up to 7.5m in length and 3.5t, of which the organisation estimates there are more than 400,000 on UK roads. Previously, RAC Commercial Assistance offered coverage for vehicles over 5.5m on a pay-on-use basis.

RAC has also added the option of fleets covering vehicles for driver-induced faults under their breakdown policies. Since the beginning of 2009, the company's figures found 30,000 instances, a third of which were flat batteries.

"We have listened to feedback from our customers and have focussed on these areas to offer a more convenient and cost-effective service for mixed fleets, widening our appeal to our core fleet market, which is six vehicles or more," said RAC Fleet Services senior partnership manager Steve Whitmarsh. "Previously, fleets had two separate call-out numbers, now there's only one, making the whole process smoother. Incorporating everything into one package also means customers will find it a lot easier to keep track of costs."
