119g/km emissions for Saab 9-3

Date: 10 September 2010

Saab has unveiled diesel engine updates for its 9-3 range with three models now having 119g/km CO2 emissions and official figures of 62.8mpg.

The 1.9-litre diesel line-up has a 130 hp TTiD unit (replacing the previous 120 hp TiD engine), a 160 hp version (replacing the 150 hp TiD engine) and a range-topping 180 hp variant.

The SportWagon offers 61.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of 122g/km and for the Convertible, the respective figures are 54.3 mpg and 137g/km.

Saab to fall under the 120g/km CO2 level, "optimised gearing is fitted without affecting acceleration or top speed". Other measures include revised gear ratios, low-rolling resistance tyres, improved aerodynamics and reduced weight.

The all-turbo petrol line-up, which sees an average reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of 7%, also benefits from some of these measures.

Standard equipment in the 9-3 now includes Bluetooth phone integration and heated front seats.
