Frosty response to driving in poor conditions

Date: 11 January 2010

Masterlease wants fleets to take the lead and stop drivers setting off in bad weather

Business car fleets are being urged to take the initiative and stop drivers making trips in adverse weather conditions.

Leasing giant Masterlease said the current economic problems can lead to workers feeling pressured into making journeys they would not undertake otherwise.

"It is the responsibility of the employer and HR department to ensure that workers are not taking unnecessary risks," said Robert Kingdom, head of marketing at Masterlease. "Now, more than ever, with the introduction and enforcement of the Corporate Manslaughter Act, businesses have to take a front-seat when it comes to ensuring the safety of their drivers."
