The start point for the best source of fleet information

Baby Jag could include diesel power

Date: 22 September 2011

Jaguar's new small two-seat sports car, shown in concept form at the Frankfurt motor show, could eventually be offered with a diesel engine, according to BusinessCar's sources.

The CX-16 concept car is powered by a petrol-electric hybrid, however the production version will launch with a 3.0-litre petrol engine.

Pitched between Porsche's Cayman and 911 models, the Jaguar will be priced from around £50,000 when it goes on sale, which is expected either late 2012 or early 2013.

However, BusinessCar's sources say a smaller petrol engine is expected later in the car's life and a diesel power-plant has not been ruled out.
