Honda reveals new Civic

Date: 16 September 2011

Honda has described its new suite of engines as "class-leading"

The ninth-generation Civic, which will become its biggest-selling model when it goes on sale early next year, has been revealed by Honda.

Civic sales in 2011 have been slow after its diesel offering was removed from the range due to its failure to meet new Euro5 regulations, which began at the beginning of the year. The lowest CO2 emissions at launch will be 110g/km on a 2.0-litre engine with 150hp.

Fleet boss Ed Hummel said the Civic launch would be followed by a very small output diesel in Q3 next year, which "will be remarkable in terms of CO2".

He also claimed the new Civic has the lowest-in-class insurance rating for the sector and is "neck-to-neck with the Golf" for SMR costs.
