Suzuki considers fleet activity

Suzuki is considering a move to a more proactive stance on fleet sales following years of inactivity in the sector. Any possible move will depend on the efficiency of new product, according to a spokesman for the Japanese brand.
Suzuki believes it could have an opportunity within health-car worker fleets for an all-wheel drive version of the Swift supermini which, if given UK sign-off, will have emissions of just 128g/km.
"We noticed a huge growth in interest for our 4x4 vehicles when it snowed last winter," said a spokesman."An efficient four-wheel drive could appeal in some markets."
The majority of the firm's current line-up is already below the 160g/km for CO2 that many fleets insist before they will consider adding a vehicle to a choice list.
Suzuki also has 11 model variants below 121g/km and a further two below 100g/km.
Suzuki's current fleet sales mix runs at about 10%, however, the firm realises the business car market represents a good opportunity for growth.
A final decision will be taken later this year when dealer development manager Dale Wyatt takes over from long-standing sales director David Seward, who is retiring.
