Vauxhall confirms BSM deal to go ahead

Date: 08 February 2011

Vauxhall has confirmed that the acquisition of driving school BSM by arch rival the AA will not affect its supply agreement of 3250 Corsas in quarter two.

The carmaker recently announced it had snatched back the BSM account from Fiat, after its driving instructors voted to return to the Corsa from Fiat's 500, citing the former as being more suitable due to its larger size.

Supply was due to start in April under BSM, and Vauxhall has confirmed that the agreement will roll over to its new owner the AA.

BSM, which went into administration late last month, has been taken over by the AA for a nominal sum of a reported £1.

A spokesman from AA parent firm Acromas said the acquisition of BSM was an opportunity to buy "a complementary business that would benefit from our expertise and buying power". He added that the AA and BSM brands would continue in their own right and that it "intends to grow both businesses".
