Dacia could stir up used residual value norm

Date: 16 August 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

The introduction of Renault's value brand Dacia into the UK has the potential to shake up the used car market as it could potentially have the strongest RVs in relation to cost new.

Speaking about Dacia's possible impact, Gavin Amos, valuation services manager at CDL VIP Data, said: "RV percentages could be the highest in the market compared to cost new.

"This could also affect used values for other brands when comparisons take place of similar models."

Amos also stated that the used car supply chain was still struggling for stock as a result of fleets holding on to cars for longer: "The fleet industry continues to show signs of extending contracts to 'hang on to' vehicles for longer, further exacerbating the used car supply chain."
