Free risk workshops for Sussex fleet managers

Date: 01 October 2012   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

Free risk management workshops are being offered to fleets in south-east England, courtesy of the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, which aims to "lower driver and company road risk, protect lives and businesses' bottom lines" through the scheme.

The workshops, which are running in October and November, are designed to increase knowledge around road safety issues, offer practical advice and guidance on increasing safety behind the wheel, and help companies to comply with legal regulations.

Run through the Company Operator Safer Transport Scheme (COSTS), there are two workshops available, both taking place at a location suitable for employers: Lunch and Learn examines causes and consequences of incidents and offers strategies to mitigate road risks, while Occupational Road Risk Assessments helps companies to develop road risk policies to ensure drivers are protected and relevant legislation is achieved.

COSTS project director Ian Jeffrey said: "Developing a strong road-safety culture is key to helping businesses reduce unnecessary costs incurred in even minor collisions.

"Our free workshops are a step towards developing this culture and saving companies money.

"Having a strong road-safety culture could mean the difference between life and death on the roads.

"When you consider the number of non-injury incidents that take place, such a culture could also mean the difference between profit and loss, especially for small businesses."
