ALD: average company car emissions drop to 126g/km

Date: 17 October 2013   |   Author:

Leasing firm ALD Automotive has revealed that average emissions of new company cars fell to a record low of 126g/km during the first half of 2013.

The firm, which has a fleet of 96,000 vehicles, also found emissions have dropped by 24% in the past 10 years, with the majority of that coming in the past five years, which recorded a 20% fall.

The company's registrations this year have been 70.6% diesel, 29.0% petrol and 0.5% alternatively fuelled.

"Company car fleets have come a long way over the last 10 years in dramatically improving their carbon footprint and delivering significant financial savings to businesses," said managing director Mel Dawson.

"Carbon emissions remain very much under the spotlight and, with emissions and taxation inextricably linked, we are working closely with our customers to help them stay one step ahead of legislation."

ALD has also charted a 2500 drop in recorded mileage for fleets, coming down from an average of 18,500 in the first half of 2012 to 16,000 miles in the same period of 2013. Over the past decade, the figure has dropped by 28% or 6000 miles.
