The start point for the best source of fleet information

CV show: TomTom 'call to action' with vehicle app centre

Date: 15 April 2013

TomTom Business Solutions has launched a new App Centre, giving customers a complete run-down of all the bolt-on services developed by third parties for the firm's systems.

"It's very exciting, the possibilities are endless," TomTom Business Solutions marketing manager Giles Margerison told BusinessCar. "It's a call to action. We want to forge relationships with hardware vendors."

The company's Webfleet platform will pair with customer service, resource and scheduling systems among others, while the firm recently opened the Bluetooth channel on its Link in-vehicle tracking device, enabling connectivity with a range of in-vehicle systems such as digital pens, form-filling and on-board weighing, temperature or tyre pressure monitoring.

At launch, around 50 applications were already available through TomTom's online App Centre. "We have a quarter of a million vehicles in Europe, it's a good market for developers," said Margerison.
