The start point for the best source of fleet information

Britain's biggest fleet gets bigger

Date: 15 August 2014

The number of vehicles on the books of the UK's largest leasing firm, Lex Autolease, has increased by 10,000 to 290,000 units in the first six months of 2014, an improvement of 17% in the growth rate over the first half of 2013.

The growth has been attributed to the success of the light commercial division that now offers purpose-built vans for the professional trades.

This year, Lex Autolease has continued to invest in the business, such as the new multi-million pound site in Coventry that is capable of de-fleeting more than 70,000 vehicles a year.

Tim Porter, MD of Lex Autolease, said the increase wouldn't stop there: "Our key growth objective is to add 100,000 vehicles to the fleet within the next five years. To achieve this target we will continue to make investments across the business to enhance out product and service capabilities."

Porter believes the current rate of growth in the commercial sector is a good indicator of the health of the wider economy and signals a return of business confidence.
