BYD scores electric car private hire deal

Date: 28 February 2014   |   Author: Tristan Young

Chinese car brand BYD has struck a 20-car fleet deal with London-based private hire firm Thriev.

Thriev has already taken on 10 of the e6 full-electric models and will take on a further 10 later this year.

The BYD e6 cars have a claimed range of 186 miles between charges and can be rapid-charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.

Isbrand Ho, managing director of BYD Europe, said: "It is great to see our e6 on the roads of London in private hire service only a matter of weeks after we became the first manufacturer to have fully-electric buses in operation in the capital.

"We are delighted to be working with Thriev, which shares our vision to provide safe, reliable and efficient green transport in cities."
