Smart Alex bags VW passenger car job

Alex Smith has taken over the reigns as director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. Smith, 39, begun the job on 1 July and leaves a similar role at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Smith replaces Robert Hazelwood who has left the company after nine years and two years in the passenger car role. Smith, meanwhile, has worked for VW since 2007 working in fleet, operations, aftersales, marketing and planning.

Replacing him at VW Commercials is Carl zu Dohna. Dohna, 44, was formerly the international sales boss for VW Commercial Vehicles in Hanover and has worked for Volkswagen in numerous high-profile roles since 2000.
