Ford reveals facelifted Ecosport

Date: 15 July 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Ford has revealed a facelifted version of its Ecosport small 4x4 ahead of it going on sale in October, priced from £14,245.

It is powered by improved versions of the current model's engines - a 95hp (up from 90hp) 1.5-litre diesel and a 125hp 1.0-litre petrol.

The diesel now returns 64.2mpg and emits 115g/km of CO2, an improvement of 3mpg and 5g/km of CO2 over the outgoing model. Despite the hike in power, fuel efficiency figures for the petrol model remain the same as before - 52.3mpg and 125g/km of CO2.

The model can now be specified without the rear-mounted spare wheel, while the rear swing-gate door has been revised to allow easier access. Cars optioned without the spare wheel will feature a tyre mobility kit as standard.

Inside, semi-leather seats are offered as standard on Titanium models, while all Ecosport models are equipped with Ford's Sync voice-controlled connectivity system, which features a four-inch screen in the centre console.

Satellite navigation and a rear-view camera will also be offered later this year, Ford said.

"The EcoSport was developed in some of the most rigorous terrains and climates across the globe to make it an even more compelling option for customers as part of our growing European SUV range," said Joe Bakaj, vice president, product development, Ford of Europe. "In addition, the team at Lommel Proving Ground in Belgium have further enhanced the driving dynamics."
