Seat to boost in-car connectivity across model range

Date: 03 September 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Seat has announced it is introducing in-car connectivity across its model range, to bridge the gap between smartphones and media systems.

Several vehicles in its line-up - including the Ibiza, Alhambra, 2016 model year Leon and Toledo - will be available with the firm's Full Link connectivity system.

The system encompasses Apple Car Play, Android Auto and MirrorLink, allowing customers to access phone functions while driving.

Full Link comes with Seat's media system, which costs £385 on SE models and above and includes an upgraded infotainment system with a 6.5" colour touchscreen and Samsung smartphone.

Seat is also introducing its DriveApp, which is intended to work alongside the Full Link system, to book servicing, eco driving tips and traffic alerts.

The software aims to put smartphone features at the driver's fingertips, including functions like satnav from certified apps and Google Maps can now be used safely via the car's touchscreen. Apps which have been classified as safe by Seat are being added regularly, including Spotify.

"Full Link is a demonstration in how to seamlessly integrate, and take full advantage of smartphone features whether you're tech savvy or not.  Any driver could benefit in terms of safety and minimising time lost, not to mention improved vehicle maintenance and driver behaviour," said Peter McDonald, Seat head of fleet and business sales.
