DS, Citroen's upmarket offshoot, has revealed its new 3 compact hatchback ahead of its debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

Seven engines power the new model - three three-cylinder petrol units, two four-cylinder petrols and two four-cylinder diesels.

The cleanest model is the BlueHDi 100 diesel, which emits 87g/km of CO2, warranting a mere 18% in BIK when it goes on sale. All models, meanwhile, emit less than 130g/km of CO2.

The range-topping 3 Performance model, meanwhile, is powered by the firm's 208hp 1.6-litre petrol engine, which emits 125g/km of CO2. It is fitted with a limited-slip dif, helping to make the most of the power, it also features lower suspension and a wider track.

Standard equipment on the new 3 includes LED headlights and Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, allowing users to connect their smartphones to the car's seven-inch touchscreen media system.

Meanwhile, the 3 comes features the firm's DS Connect Box as standard which includes the following safety services:

  • SOS & Assistance pack: a system that can automatically make emergency and assistance calls, where necessary to summon the emergency services.
  • Monitoring pack: a virtual maintenance manual (automatically monitoring mileage and upcoming services), which offers eco-driving advice.
  • Mapping pack: vehicle location with customisable alerts via email, for example when the car enters or leaves a geographical area,
  • Tracking pack: in the event of theft, the location of the car can be  transmitted to the police.

"Refined, high-tech and high-performance, the stylish Parisian car appeals to customers looking for expressiveness, personalisation and motoring thrills," said Yves Bonnefont, CEO of DS Automobiles
