New Suzuki Ignis crossover revealed ahead of Paris debut

Date: 10 August 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Suzuki has revealed its new Ignis crossover ahead of its official unveiling at next month's Paris Motor Show.
Set to go on sale next year, the Nissan Juke-rivaling model will join the firm's existing line-up of the Baleno, Celerio, Swift, S-cross and Vitara in the UK.
Powertain information has not been revealed at this stage - expect more details to emerge at the show - but Suzuki said the new model will have the option of a hybrid system.
The Ignis follows on from the iM4 concept car, first shown at the Geneva motor show in 2015.
That vehicle featured a 1.2-litre petrol engine as part of a hybrid set-up, so we're expecting the Ignis to offer a similar powertrain, as well as the company's new 138hp 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol which is used in the larger Vitara model. In the Vitara, the engine emits 127g/km of CO2, placing it in the 22% 2016/17 BIK tax band, and returns 52.3mpg.
Suzuki is also set to reveal a facelifted version of its S-cross crossover at the show, which will be powered by 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engines, alongside the existing 1.6-litre diesel, replacing the outgoing 1.6-litre petrol unit.
Efficiency information has not been confirmed for the two new powertrains, other changes to the S-cross include a new front bumper and what Suzuki is claiming will be a more refined interior. The facelifted S-cross model range goes on sale in mid-October.
