The start point for the best source of fleet information

ALD gains Go Ultra Low Company status

Date: 28 July 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Leasing company ALD Automotive has been awarded 'Go Ultra Low Company' status in recognition of its fleet going green.

According to the firm, more than 10% of its company car fleet is made up of ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs).

The Go Ultra Low Companies scheme is an initiative run by the government and industry-backed Go Ultra Low scheme to recognise businesses that are embracing electric vehicles.

ALD Automotive said it recently assigned 20 Mercedes-Benz C350e plug-in hybrids to company car drivers as part of a long-term in-house trial studying the use of alternatively-fuelled vehicles for business travel, with the results being shared with the firm's clients when they approach the leasing company for advice on alternative fuels.

According to Matt Dale, consultancy services manager at ALD, the company has been "championing" alternative fuels for a number of years.

He added that the firm is to soon launch a "mobility experience" that encourages businesses to "challenge" traditional business travel in order to help build better fleet policies that meet companies' needs.

"The publication of the government's Air Quality Plan earlier this week and its intention to see all new petrol and diesel cars banned by 2040 is another step towards a greener future for the UK," said Dale. "Fleets are already considering their options around low emission vehicles and our 'Go Ultra Low Company' status demonstrates our commitment in this area, underlining the skills and experience we have in place to support them with this challenge."

Poppy Welch, head of Go Ultra Low, said: "We want to encourage every business in the UK to follow the example set by ALD Automotive and offer their employees the chance to drive or own an electric vehicle. Not only can they promote cleaner motoring, but there are multiple short and long-term financial benefits for companies and their employees to enjoy."
