New Jaguar XF Sportbrake teased in Wimbledon sketch

Jaguar has teased its forthcoming XF Sportbrake at Wimbledon.

The turf at Centre Court was turned into a canvas to show the outline of the XF estate, with the ground staff transforming the venue's white lines into the shape of the new vehicle.

Jaguar was meant to reveal the XF Sportbrake at the Geneva motor show last month, but its debut was put back due to production and design delays.

The XF Sportbrake is due to go on sale this summer.

Although powertrain information has not been revealed at this stage, it is likely the XF Sportbrake will share the saloon's petrol and diesel engines, which currently consists of a 163/180/240hp 2.0-litre diesel, 200/250hp 2.0-litre petrol, 300hp 3.0-litre diesel and a 380hp 3.0-litre petrol.

"With XF Sportbrake we've created a silhouette which sweeps towards the rear, almost into the distance, and really gives the car a sense of speed and sportiness. It will bring new levels of practicality to the range without sacrificing the dynamic design and agile handling our customers expect," said Ian Callum, Jaguar director of design.

Neil Stubley, Wimbledon head groundsman, added: "Ian and I come from very different professions but the roles have one thing in common - our dedication to achieving perfect precise lines. If we get one line out of place, the whole world will see it, so it's vital that we achieve 100% precision with every line we draw."
