Arval announces new EV charging facilities

Date: 29 March 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Leasing company Arval is to open extensive electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at its UK headquarters.

The new facility at the firm's offices on Windmill Hill Business Park in Swindon -  due to open in April - will feature 43 charging points for Arval employees, along with an additional seven for other businesses using the same building.

Arval says it also plans to install new charging points at its other UK premises in Manchester and Birmingham.

The facilities are being provided by charging company Newmotion.

To use them, all Arval employees who register will be given a validated charge fob, which will give them free workplace charging for the first six months, and also provide access to Newmotion's public charging facilities throughout Europe.

Arval human resources director Ailsa Firth said: "As a business, we are committed to supporting the ongoing energy transition toward electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and this means giving drivers convenient access to charging points.

"In our own company car fleet, we already have around 100 plug-in vehicle drivers and we expect this number to grow over the coming months and years as availability, choice and experience grows.

"There is already research, notably from the International Council on Clean Transportation, suggesting EVs cost less to operate than petrol and diesel cars.

"With this project, we hope to prove the cost and practicality arguments for ourselves."
