EV route planning among Kia software updates

Date: 07 July 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has issued a software update for its vehicles, including features such as EV route planning.

This feature, issued to EV6 and Niro EV vehicles, allows the cars' sat-nav systems to detect charging stations along a route and add them as waypoints automatically.

The system automatically recognises if battery levels are insufficient to reach the programmed destination, and alerts drivers accordingly, providing a selection of charging stations in the vicinity.

Other features with the new update include the addition of music identification service Soundhound, and redesigned system icons and menus.

2022 model year vehicles with telematics will receive the update via over-the-air technology.
