New Kia EV5 unveiled

Date: 12 October 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has unveiled the EV5, the latest model in its electric car range.

The EV5 has debuted at Kia's first annual EV Day, alongside concept cars that preview future EV3 and EV4 models.

The EV5 is an SUV based on the familiar E-GMP platform, and Kia has announced details of different powertrain configurations for Chinese and Korean production - the latter expected to eventually arrive in the UK.

Korean powertrain options are a 218hp motor with 58kWh or 81kWh batteries, and a 306hp twin-motor version with the 81kWh battery.

The model's interior features a connected car Navigation Concept infotainment system, supporting over-the-air software updates, with a 12.3in driver display and a 12.3in infotainment system, along with a 5in climate control display.

Details of UK specs, prices, and an on-sale date are yet to be announced. However, Kia says the EV3, EV4, and EV5 will be offered at prices ranging from $35,000 to $50,000 USD, equivalent to £28,000 to £40,000 at current exchange rates.
