Power and performance are both improved with the engine's output jumping from 275PS to 326PS. And economy is still an impressive 30.0mpg on the official combined cycle, and over 1000 miles we recorded an average of 28.0mpg - incredibly impressive for a car capable of 0-62mph in 5.9secs.
The Audi has the added advantage over its rivals of being all-wheel-drive which proved incredibly capable in snowy Northumberland. The Quattro system was also helped by the air-suspension which allows the ride height to be raised by 145mm at speeds of up to 30mph.
The downside of the Sport model, with its bigger wheels and a sportier suspension setting, is that the ride comfort isn't class leading, although far from harsh on the adaptive air-suspension's comfort setting.
In fact the only real negative about the car was a jamming of the keyless start and stop buttons which meant using the key in the traditional fashion to start the car. What a bind.
