Suzuki S-cross 1.6 DDiS SZ5 Allgrip: Test Drive Review

Suzuki began stepping up its fleet activities in 2013, and the S-cross crossover represents its first real stab at the corporate market.
Aimed squarely at Nissan's successful Qashqai, it's well specced and has a CO2 low of 110g/km, so it's off to a good start. This Allgrip four-wheel drive version only suffers a very small 4g/km penalty at 114g/km, too.
The mid-spec SZ-T model (one trim level lower than the SZ5 tested here) is expected to be the biggest seller into fleet and even that has features such as DAB radio, Bluetooth, satnav and rear parking camera/sensors, while our top-end model added leather seats and a panoramic sunroof among other extras.
The 120hp diesel engine isn't short of punch, but the interior finish is off the pace and the ride is also quite rough.
At £23,494, this version looks expensive, and with the new Qashqai at 99g/km, the Suzuki can no longer lay claim to being cleaner than Nissan's benchmark crossover.
