Satisfied customer: We'll be adding another five-star score to the dealer website for Stephen James Ruxley

BMW has taken the brave decision to publish Trip Advisor-style customer comments on all its dealers' websites.

Our local dealer, Stephen James Ruxley, average 4.3 out of five for servicing, with just five of the 160 customers rating it at one star, compared with 95 giving it a full five-star report.

So when the adaptive headlamp failure warning light appeared, it gave me a chance to see whether the praise was justified. I booked in the car easily enough for a date that suited me, although I would have had to wait a couple more days for a courtesy car. The dealership was also very understanding when

I forgot I'd booked in, and they re-booked me efficiently for a couple of days later!

Following a desk-bound diagnostic check using the key and the discovery that a broken seal had allowed water to get into the headlamp, my 330d had to stay in overnight. A new headlamp was ordered under warranty, fitted, and the car given an admittedly much-needed wash and valet, looking shiny and new when I went to collect it - a painless experience and another five-star review earned.
