The start point for the best source of fleet information

Agency driver management guide published

Date: 28 June 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

The Fleet Safety Forum has published a guide for businesses on managing agency drivers.

The publication addresses the risks of using agency staff for work and how to minimise them, in response to research conducted by the organisation highlighting the fact that agency drivers are more likely to be involved in at-work accidents.

Subjects outlined in the guide include: effective partnership and working with the driver agency; rigorous inductions on company safe-driving policy and vehicle checks; and subjecting agency drivers to the same spot checks - e.g. for drug and alcohol use - as company employed drivers. It also includes a best practice case study of a fleet operator who has slashed the risks associated with agency drivers.

Fleet Safety Forum subscribers can receive the guide for free and it costs £5 for non-subscribers. Call 01484 559909 or email admin@brake.org.uk for a copy.
