The start point for the best source of fleet information

Epyx 1link system moves into nationwide tyre purchasing

Date: 09 April 2014   |   Author: Martin Gurdon

The Epyx 1link e-commerce IT platform is offering a tyre purchasing facility for the first time.

Its 1Link Service Network operation already provides a mix of dealer-based services such as vehicle procurement, maintenance, hire, disposals and relicensing.

Its expanded service is intended to provide fixed-price tyres on a nationwide basis.

"The tyre market is a huge opportunity," said Mike Wise, director of tyre programmes. "The average company car has two tyres fitted every year, adding up to sales of around six million units.

"Yet it is an area where franchise dealer sales penetration is low. E-procurement technology could allow a fleet national tyre programme to be constructed in days, creating a one-stop shop offering for franchise networks offering alongside other forms of service and maintenance."

The platform is likely to be enhanced later this year, when operators will be able to use it to publish what they currently pay for tyres, allowing suppliers to pitch for their business.

The firm has also announced the addition of a new document and image upload tool to the 1Link system, which will allow technicians to add pictures of repair work and theoretically allow for faster authorisation on such jobs from fleets.
