Chargemaster acquires GB Electrical

Date: 03 July 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Electric vehicle charging point expert Chargemaster has acquired GB Electrical, a national contractor that installs charging points across the country, for an undisclosed sum.

GB Electrical employs 70 staff nationwide. The company said the number of employees will grow after the acquisition in line with the expansion of the electric vehicle charging point market.

To date, Chargemaster has used subcontractors for its installation work. Chargemaster said the move will enable it to increase the capacity and quality of its installation service.

"We have been working with Chargemaster for some years now and we have been impressed with the reliability of their equipment and the ease of installation," said Terry Pickering, managing director of GB Electrical. "This deal means we can benefit from being part of a leading UK firm, both financially and from an administrative point of view,"

"We can now focus on growing our geographical scope to ensure that every customer gets the best possible service by using us."

Chargemaster's customers include BMW, Mercedes Benz, Tesla, Mitsubishi, Renault, Nissan and supermarkets including Waitrose and Asda as well as 30 local authorities and central government. It claims it has a 60% market share of charging points in the UK.
