Majority of motorists feel the next Government won't do more for drivers, says Auto Trader

The vast majority of UK motorists don't think things will improve on the motoring front whichever political party is elected, according to Auto Trader.

Results from a survey conducted by the online marketplace showed that the majority of those surveyed feel that a Conservative Government would do as little as a Labour Government, while even fewer feel things would improve under another coalition.

Out of the 1000 motorists surveyed, 69.6% said a Labour Government would make no difference to the motoring world, while 72.4% said a Tory Government wouldn't change things, and 78.2% claimed a coalition Government wouldn't do anything for the motorist.

Auto Trader also asked what issues a new Government should focus on to try and help the motorist. Top of the list of suggestions with 72.5% was a fuel price cut, followed by fixing potholes (69.5%) and reducing insurance costs (46.1%).

"We haven't heard too much about the plight of the motorist from any political party in the run up to the election," said Nick King, Auto Trader's market research director. "So perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that most of those surveyed seemed quite pessimistic, at least when it comes to a focus on motoring issues."
