The fourth-generation Kia Rio supermini will cost from £11,995, the Korean company has announced.

On sale from today, the five-door only model is offered in three trim grades, called 1, 2 and 3 for simplicity.

Longer and wider than the car it replaces, the new Rio features a thinner and wider grille design, a new U-shape LED light signature and a reshaped rear end.

The entry-level model is powered by an 83hp 1.25hp petrol engine, which emits 109g/km of CO2 and returns 58.8mpg, placing it in the 20% 2017/18 BIK tax bracket.

Of interest to fleets will be the 76hp 1.4-litre diesel unit that emits 92g/km of CO2 and returns 80.7mpg, placing it in the 20% 2017/18 BIK bracket, It is priced from £13,495.

Standard kit includes air-con, a 3.8-inch display screen, Bluetooth and automatic LED lights. As standard, the Rio is equipped with electronic stability control, vehicle stability management and hill-start assist.

Grade 2, meanwhile, adds 15-inch alloy wheels in place of steel ones, a DAB radio, reversing camera and parking sensors, USB charging points, cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning systems.

The top-of-the-range '3' trim features 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic air-con, faux leather upholstery, a seven-inch display screen, sat-nav, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity systems.
