Date: 29 April 2024   |   Author: Sean Keywood

UK customers of rental firm Europcar drove more than 3.5 million miles in EVs in 2023, it has been revealed.

The data is included in a new report from the company, entitled 'Plugged into sustainability', which also reveals that 12% of its rental fleet was either pure EV or plug-in hybrid by the end of last year - a 379% increase.

In addition, 99.5% of Europcar's corporate customers are said to now have access to EVs, while more than 25% of the company's delivery and collection journeys now use electric cars or bikes.

CO2 emissions on its company car vehicles are also down by 85% compared with its legacy fleet.

Europcar Mobility Group UK commercial director and sustainability spokesperson Mark Newberry said: "We are committed to helping businesses and private motorists make the change from ICE to electric, through innovative tech-based solutions, electrification across our network, and a growing range of low and zero emission vehicles.

"Moving a business to a zero emissions strategy requires clear thinking, detailed planning and a hands-on real-world experience. Our carefully designed EV solutions are future-proofing the whole mobility process and already support many organisations as well as private motorists on their sustainability journeys."
