After city-based success in France and Belgium, app-only based rental service Virtuo is launching in London this month, promising to do away with the long queues, fiddly paperwork and hidden fees associated with traditional car hire.
A fleet of 35 Mercedes A-Class cars will be unlockable "within minutes" according to Virtuo.
After signing up and validating an account, that fleet is available from £35 per day from any one of five locations: Victoria, Waterloo, King's Cross St Pancras, Marble Arch and Kensington.
Returns can be made to any of those locations regardless of original pick-up point; the minimum loan is one day, with a half-day top-up also possible.
Accessible via the digital app, there will also be a 24/7 online customer service portal to iron out issues.
Karim Kaddoura, co-founder of Virtuo, said: "We genuinely care about our customers and the experience they have with us. Every step of the journey is designed to make using Virtuo the ultimate rental experience.
"We want our customers to be in control of their journey and our 24/7 bookings gives them exactly that."
The scheme will start in London, but Virtuo has plans to expand to other UK cities too.
