New BMW 5 Series Touring and i5 Touring revealed

Date: 07 February 2024   |   Author: Sean Keywood

BMW has unveiled the Touring estate version of its 5 Series executive car, which for the first time is being made available as an i5 electric variant.

The i5 Touring will in fact be the first variant to arrive in the UK, with electric powertrains producing either 340hp (badged eDrive40) or 601hp (badged M60), with provisional electric ranges of 300-348 miles and 277-314 miles respectively. A 299hp plug-in hybrid version, the 530e, will join the range subsequently.

All versions of the model feature a boot measuring 570 litres with the rear seats in place, and up to 1,700 litres with them folded.

Compared with the previous-generation version, the new model is 97mm longer, 32mm wider, and 17mm taller.

The i5 Touring is available to order now, priced from £69,040 for the eDrive40 - which is available with Sport Edition, M Sport, and M Sport Pro equipment grades - and £99,090 for the M60, with the UK market launch scheduled for May. Prices for the 530e are yet to be confirmed.

The new Sport Edition grade is also being added to the i5 saloon line-up, and provides a new entry-level option.
