Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 Turbo Design: One Minute Test Drive

Date: 02 September 2008   |   Author: Tristan Young

Category: Mini-MPV
P11D price: £21,105
Key rival: Ford S-max

What's new: Facelifted with new rear lights and other minor exterior tweaks. Inside gets improved materials - particularly in the dashboard.

Excellent: The best part of this car is the performance from the 200PS 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It's a surprisingly fast car, given that the Zafira is one of Vauxhall's oldest models.

Good: The revisions have helped the interior a great deal and even the new rear lights go some way to bringing the car up to date. The Flex7 seat-folding system works as well as ever.

Average: The price may be a not insignificant £21,560, or 59.7p per mile, but to get this kind of kit and performance from one of the Zafira's rivals, you're going to have to pay a fair bit more.

Poor: The cosmetic-only facelift doesn't really go far enough to pull the Zafira back to the head of the segment it used to lead.

Verdict: Minor facelift isn't enough to keep the car on the pace with its best rivals, although interior flexibility still impresses.
