Honda's claim its new Accord warrants premium status has to be challenged in one department - our long-term 2.2-litre diesel estate car's strangely inconsistent steering.

On fast motorway curves the amount of power assistance is inconsistent and the level of weighting variable. Other BusinessCar testers have, unprompted, noted these spooky tendencies, confirming the feeling of a "narrow groove" just off centre that has to be steered through.

Also, the engineers didn't solve the issue of grotty UK winter weather daily obscuring the rear-parking camera (above) that's exposed above the number plate.
