Transits gain standard anti-skid and 4x4 option

Date: 27 September 2006

Anti-skid control has become standard on all Transits, bar the sole petrol and 4x4 models.

Formally a £250 option, LCV boss Steve Kimber said the decision to make ESP standard was "responding directly to the requirements of our customers".

Ford has also developed a new "torque on demand" all-wheel drive system for Britain's favourite van.

Available on the 140PS 2.4-litre variants, torque can be shuffled to the front wheels when sensors detect slip from the rear, helping to neutralise oversteer and increase traction.
